形態特徵

• Rhizome short, robust, loosely tufted. Culms erect, 30-150 cm tall, 1-6 mm thick below, triquetrous, smooth, distantly 2- to 6-noded.
• Leaves 2 to 5 upper evenly spaced on culm, 4-12 mm wide, 30-70 cm long, shorter than culm; basal sheaths reddish brown or greenish with purple-brown veins.
• Inflorescence a compound panicle, 15-60 cm long; partial panicles 3 to 13, at 3 to 8 nodes, single and middle ones binate, subloose, 4-12 cm long by 2.5-6 cm wide, branched below. Bracts leafy, shorter than inflorescence; bract sheath 1-5 cm long. Spikes androgynous, cylindrical, 4-20 mm long, subloosely flowered, yellow-brown to reddish brown, staminate part linear, 5-7 mm long.
• Pistillate glumes ovate, 1.5-2.2 mm long, obtuse to acute at apex, pale-brown to reddish brown, sparsely hispidulous; awn hispid, to 0.3 mm long. Utricles spreading, ovate to elliptic, 3-5 mm by 0.75-1 mm, obtusely trigonous, 4-7 nerves on each side, greenish to stramineous or reddish brown, sparsely hispid; beak 1.3-1.8 mm long, glabrous or sparsely hispid on margins, reddish brown, truncate at orifice. Achenes elliptic, 1.5-1.75 mm long; style base slightly thickened. Stigmas 3.

• 台灣 : in mountain areas, 500-2,800 m, common.
• 世界 : Sri Lanka, India, the Himalaya, southern China and southeastern Asia.
